Ongoing exchange with science and universities is one of the basic prerequisites for sustainable corporate development. The analysis of current trends and developments, both in the technology sector and on the market side, is a key part of a company's strategic orientation. On the other hand, the alignment of theory and practice is an indispensable process of personal and academic development for the students. The knowis colleagues were looking for this synergy during their visit at the 2018 students' contact fair 'Unternehmerbörse' in Hof last Tuesday.
'Unternehmerbörse' is the largest university contact fair in northern Bavaria. "Since the foundation of our university almost 25 years ago, the close integration of business and science has been one of our most important strategic success factors. Our more than 3,500 students are prepared in a practice-oriented manner at an early stage for their later professional careers, so that they can quickly develop into top performers in the company after completing their studies," says Prof. Dr. Jürgen Lehmann, President of Hof University of Applied Sciences.
The mission: getting young people interested in IT for digital banking solutions
These were the best conditions for the knowis team, which had a clear mission: to get young people interested in IT for digital banking solutions. Courses such as classical informatics, media informatics, business informatics or Internet web science, which are offered at Hof University of Applied Sciences, offer great potential for future knowis colleagues. These had to be identified and won over. The simple but effective strategy: speak the language of the people you want to reach. A central part of the fair presentation was a banner that gave the students an exercise in programming language and animated them to stop. On this basis stimulating discussions arose, which can serve as starting signal for a future professional co-operation.
A versatile team creates an inspiring working atmosphere
Compared to the usual clichés in IT, diversity is not a problem for knowis, but rather a claim. "We evolve our company when people from different backgrounds, genders, qualifications and experiences contribute their passion and skills to our team," emphasizes Kathrin Zollner, Human Resources Manager at knowis AG. "Especially in a growing company, the team needs to be diverse in order to develop wide expertise, meet the challenges of the volatile market and create an inspiring working environment." Already during the recruiting process, it is important not only to fulfil the classical role models and to profit from international influences.
The university as an important contact point
The spirit of the university atmosphere often coincides with these requirements, which is why events such as the 'Unternehmerbörse' in Hof but also the personnel fair 'Karriere-Kontakte' of the University of Regensburg, the 'Connecta Regensburg' or the 'Studentische Karrierebörse (SKB)' of Landshut University are always marked in the calendar of the knowis HR department. Whether a student research project in the informatics sector, an internship in IT, a final thesis in beautiful Regensburg, a permanent position as a working student or even software developer after graduation – the software specialists from Regensburg offer students a wide range of opportunities to prove themselves in everyday working life.
The upcoming events for get-togethers have already been set: 'Karriere-Kontakte' Regensburg will take place on June the 13th 2018, 'Connecta Regensburg' on October the 24th/25th 2018 and 'Unternehmerbörse' in Hof on May the 7th 2019.
